Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not it that hath cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon?

The verse 9 is found in chapter 51 of Isaiah. Those who know righteousness should not fear human contempt because God’s salvation endures. Jerusalem is called to awaken and drink the cup of wrath, but afterward that cup will be placed in the hands of her oppressors. The image reverses the people’s situation: those who seemed condemned will recover their dignity.
