The verse 11 is found in chapter 13 of Jeremiah. The linen belt hidden by the Euphrates functions as a symbolic action. Just as the belt was meant to cling to the waist, God intended Judah and Israel to remain closely attached to him; however, pride made them useless. The symbol visually explains the relationship between election, closeness, and loss of purpose through disobedience.
