The verse 31 is found in chapter 2 of Jeremiah. Judah’s unfaithfulness is described through images of prostitution, a degenerate vine, and a female camel in heat. The prophetic language denounces a compulsive pursuit of other gods and political alliances. The nation attempts to justify itself, but its own conduct contradicts it. The chapter ends by showing that trust in human allies will ultimately produce shame.
