The verse 25 is found in chapter 44 of Jeremiah. The people’s response reveals a complete reversal of prophetic authority: they say they will continue worshiping the queen of heaven. Jeremiah then announces that the small remnant will suffer and that the sign involving Pharaoh Hophra will confirm the judgment. The scene shows how far a community can reinterpret its own history to justify disobedience.
