The verse 14 is found in chapter 46 of Jeremiah. The oracle against Egypt includes the defeat of its army and later a promise of restoration for Jacob. Egypt will not be able to sustain its power before Yahweh, but Israel will not be abandoned permanently either. Jacob’s discipline is distinguished from total judgment: God corrects his people without allowing them to disappear.
