The verse 8 is found in chapter 52 of Jeremiah. The final chapter narrates the fall of Jerusalem under Zedekiah. The king attempts to escape but is captured and brought before Nebuchadnezzar; his sons are executed and he is blinded. The narrative functions as the historical fulfillment of numerous earlier warnings from Jeremiah concerning rejection of the divine word.
