Verse 13 is found in chapter 23 of Joshua. Joshua recalls Israel’s victories and states that one Israelite can pursue a thousand because the Lord fights for His people. But he immediately warns that association with the remaining nations can become a snare. The same God who guarantees protection requires exclusive faithfulness. The passage directly connects Israel’s future security with covenant obedience and warns that unfaithfulness will have consequences for remaining in the land.
