About forty thousand prepared for war passed over before the LORD unto battle, to the plains of Jericho.
A verse can bring hope. Share this message of faith with someone you care about.
Verse 13 is found in chapter 4 of Joshua. The priests remain in the Jordan until everything God had commanded Joshua is completed. This detail reinforces the ordered and obedient character of the scene. When they finally come out, the waters return to their course. Joshua is exalted before Israel and the people recognize his authority. The parallel with Moses does not mean that Joshua replaces the revelation previously received, but that he continues the mission of leading the people under the same divine authority.
