Verse 7 is found in chapter 12 of Judges. The men of Ephraim again confront another judge because they were not summoned. Jephthah responds militarily and defeats Ephraim. To identify fugitives, the pronunciation of "Shibboleth" is used, which the Ephraimites could not pronounce correctly. The scene shows how internal tribal conflicts can be as destructive as external enemies.
