Verse 5 is found in chapter 14 of Judges. Samson kills a lion with his hands through the strength of the Spirit of the Lord. Later he finds honey inside the carcass and eats it, also giving some to his parents without explaining its origin. The scene creates tension with Nazirite consecration because contact with a corpse was relevant to purity regulations. The account begins showing how Samson possesses extraordinary power but does not always act with discipline consistent with his consecration.
