Verse 11 is found in chapter 7 of Judges. God allows Gideon to hear the dream of a Midianite who interprets Israel’s future victory. The dream uses the image of a barley loaf overturning a tent, an image suited to representing Israel’s apparent insignificance before Midian. Gideon receives confirmation and worships before returning to the camp. His faith is strengthened through a sign that the enemy himself interprets favorably.
