And Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.

Verse 10 is found in chapter 24 of Numbers. Balak becomes furious upon hearing the blessings and dismisses Balaam, but before leaving the prophet pronounces additional oracles concerning Israel and its future enemies. A future figure associated with Jacob appears who will rule over various peoples. The section broadens the horizon of the oracles: Israel’s blessing is not limited to the immediate moment, but extends toward later conflicts and developments.
