Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

Verse 7 is found in chapter 139 of Psalms. Psalm 139 explores God’s exhaustive knowledge of the individual. God knows sitting, rising, thoughts, ways, and words before they are spoken. Divine omnipresence makes escape from his Spirit impossible, whether in heaven, the depths, or the farthest sea. Reflection on formation in the womb leads to wonder at God’s creative work. Finally, the psalmist asks this divine knowledge to examine and guide his way.

Dove me ne andrò d’innanzi al tuo Spirito? E dove me ne fuggirò dal tuo cospetto?
