Verse 13 is found in chapter 1 of Revelation. When John turns toward the voice, he sees seven golden lampstands and, among them, one like the Son of Man. The image combines priestly, royal, and heavenly features: the garment, white hair, eyes like a flame of fire, and voice like the sound of many waters communicate dignity, knowledge, and authority. The seven stars in his right hand and the sword coming from his mouth anticipate the interpretation that follows. Christ does not appear distant from his churches, but walking among them and holding them in his hand.
