Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;

Verse 19 is found in chapter 1 of Revelation. John’s reaction to the vision is to fall as though dead, but the heavenly figure lays his hand upon him and identifies himself as the First and the Last, the one who was dead and is alive forevermore. Christ’s resurrection becomes the foundation of his authority over death and Hades. The keys symbolize dominion, while the seven stars and seven lampstands receive an explicit interpretation: they represent the angels of the seven churches and the churches themselves. The vision therefore introduces the principle that the symbols will be explained from within the book itself.

Schreibe, was du gesehen hast, und was da ist, und was geschehen soll darnach.
Scrivi adunque le cose che tu hai vedute, e quelle che sono, e quelle che saranno da ora innanzi;
Escreve as coisas que tens visto, e as que são, e as que depois destas hão de acontecer;
所以,你要把所看見的事、現在的事和以後將發生的事,都寫下來。
