And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

Verse 19 is found in chapter 14 of Revelation. A second harvest cycle appears with an angel holding another sickle, followed by the gathering of the vine of the earth. The grapes are thrown into the great winepress of God’s wrath, and the winepress is trodden outside the city. The image comes from prophetic language of the winepress as a representation of judgment upon the nations. The distance between the city and the winepress, together with the enormous extent of the resulting blood, intensifies the cosmic character of the judgment scene.
