Verse 10 is found in chapter 21 of Revelation. One of the angels takes John to see the bride of the Lamb, identified with the holy city, Jerusalem, descending from heaven. The city possesses the glory of God and a great wall with twelve gates, each associated with a tribe of Israel, and twelve foundations associated with the apostles of the Lamb. The architecture symbolizes continuity and fullness of God’s people: the twelve tribes and twelve apostles appear integrated into the eschatological city.
