Verse 5 is found in chapter 8 of Revelation. The opening of the seventh seal produces silence in heaven for about half an hour. Seven angels receive seven trumpets, and another angel offers incense together with the prayers of the saints on the altar before the throne. The silence introduces solemnity before a new series of judgments. The incense connects the prayers of believers with divine action in history: the petitions of the saints are not irrelevant, but symbolically presented before God before judgment is unleashed.
