Verse 42 is found in chapter 25 of 1 Samuel. Nabal holds a feast and dies after his heart fails when he learns what happened. David interprets his death as an intervention by the Lord and later takes Abigail as his wife. The text also mentions his marriage to Ahinoam and Saul giving Michal to another man. Marital relationships reflect the political tensions of the period. David continues increasing in influence while Saul continues weakening the bonds within his own household.
