Verse 2 is found in chapter 8 of 2 Kings. Elisha warns the Shunammite woman about a future famine and tells her to leave the land temporarily. After seven years she returns and asks the king for the restoration of her property. The narrative providentially coincides with the moment when the king hears Gehazi recount Elisha’s deeds, including the episode of the resurrected son. The story connects apparently separate events and shows how the memory of God’s works can influence present decisions. The restoration of the woman’s property also demonstrates the continuity of divine care beyond the initial miracle.
