Verse 1 is found in chapter 8 of Ezekiel. Ezekiel receives a vision in which he is taken to Jerusalem and sees idolatry within the temple. Divine glory is connected with the denunciation of practices that profane the sanctuary. The scene establishes that judgment on Jerusalem is not arbitrary: God’s own house has become a setting for abominations.
