Verse 13 is found in chapter 15 of Judges. The Philistines come against Judah, and the men of Judah hand Samson over to avoid conflict. Samson agrees to be bound and taken to his enemies. The scene shows Judah’s passivity in the face of oppression and Samson’s willingness to confront the Philistines alone. The deliverer once again appears as an isolated figure rather than the leader of a national mobilization.
