Verse 13 is found in chapter 79 of Psalms. Psalm 79 laments a national desecration in which the nations have invaded God’s inheritance and defiled the temple. The request is not limited to recovering territory: the honor of the divine name is at stake. The psalmist asks forgiveness for the people’s sins and justice against those who shed blood. The conclusion promises that Israel, as God’s people, will proclaim his praise from generation to generation.
