Verse 1 is found in chapter 80 of Psalms. Psalm 80 presents Israel through the image of a vine that God brought out of Egypt and planted in the land. The vine flourished until it was broken down and exposed to its enemies. The repeated call to restore and make the divine face shine structures the prayer. The request concerning the son at God’s right hand introduces a royal or representative figure whose restoration is connected with the renewal of the entire people.
