Verse 11 is found in chapter 1 of 2 Kings. Ahaziah responds to the prophetic message by attempting to arrest Elijah with a company of fifty soldiers. The scene contrasts the king’s political authority with the authority of God’s word. When the captain orders the prophet to come down, fire falls from heaven and consumes the soldiers. The repetition of the scene shows that the issue is not merely Elijah himself, but the attempt to subject the prophetic word to royal power. The fire confirms that the prophet does not act on his own initiative: the message he announces comes from the Lord and cannot be neutralized through royal coercion.
