It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:

Verse 4 is found in chapter 31 of Proverbs. The final chapter begins with the words taught to King Lemuel by his mother. The instruction first warns against consumption that can cloud the ruler’s judgment and make him forget the law. The king must use his authority to defend those who cannot defend themselves. Political responsibility appears here from a wisdom perspective: authority is morally expressed through justice toward the vulnerable and needy.

Ei non si conviene ai re, o Lemuel, Ei non si conviene ai re d’esser bevitori di vino, Nè a’ principi d’esser bevitori di cervogia;
Não é próprio dos reis, ó Lemuel, não é próprio dos reis beber vinho, nem dos príncipes o desejar bebida forte;
利慕伊勒 啊,君王不宜,君王不宜喝酒, 王子尋找烈酒也不相宜;
