If my land cry against me, or that the furrows likewise thereof complain;

Verse 38 is found in chapter 31 of Job. Job ends his defense by wishing that someone would respond to his declaration of innocence. He wants his accusation written and formally presented, as though he carried an authoritative sign upon himself. He then again describes his treatment of the land and ends his words. The structure marks the conclusion of his great defense before Elihu’s intervention.

Wird mein Land gegen mich schreien und werden miteinander seine Furchen weinen;
Si mi tierra clama contra mí, Y lloran todos sus surcos;
Si mi tierra clama contra mí y todos sus surcos lloran juntos,
Si ma terre crie contre moi, Et que ses sillons versent des larmes;
Se la mia terra grida contro a me, E se parimente i suoi solchi piangono;
Se a minha terra clamar contra mim, e se os seus sulcos juntamente chorarem,
「若我的田地喊冤告我, 犁溝也一同哭泣;
